Get to know Candy!
Candy is a sweet little lady with the people she trusts but sour with strangers. She needs a quiet and gentle family with dog savvy kids no younger than 15, if any at all. She will bark when she's upset, so often at strangers and when she feels left out. She wouldn't do well in apartment or multi-family style home as the noise would bother the neighbors, and noisy neighbors would bother her. She's especially scared of strangers touching her, and even of more trusted people picking her up. She may nip when panicked. She bullies cats but does well with sweet and friendly dogs closer to her size that don't mind a little sass. She is housebroken and loves to go for walks; they've been the best way to bond with her. She struggles with stairs and can only do a few steps. This combined with her fear of being picked up means there should be no necessary steps for her to climb in her new home.
Candy is a 6 year old spayed female chihuahua mix and weighs 16lbs.
Key Notes:
-
Experience with timid dogs needed.
-
No apartments or multi-family homes.
-
Kids: Okay with dog-savvy kids 15 and up.
-
Cats: Should not live with cats.
-
Dogs: Good with friendly and submissive dogs with the exception of being good with her long time friend, Nacho.
-
Energy: Low-medium; loves walks and the occasional run, but happy to laze around.
-
No stairs she will need to climb.
-
Does not like to be picked up; will tolerate after she learns to trust you.
-
Will bark when upset (at strangers, when she feels ignored, etc.).
-
Housebroken and good on leash; loves walks!
-
No more than 8 hours alone a day.

Get to know Huey!
Huey is a goofball of a gentleman from Texas! He doesn't take adulthood too seriously and likes to let loose and play like a pup! His foster home down in Texas helped him learn housebreaking, leash training and "sit" so he's prepared to act his age when needed. He showers new humans in kisses and cuddles right up, but may get excited and try to playfully chew so he needs a home with kids 12 and up. He happily romps and plays with most dogs, but can be a little dominant and does best with goofy playful female dogs. He happily runs up to kitties to say hello and listens well when they say they want space. His eager greeting may scare away a less confident cat and playful Huey may chase, so any kitty roommates will need to be dog-savvy and confident.
Huey is a 5 year old neutered male bully breed mix and weighs 54 pounds.
Key Notes:
-
No small homes; needs room to run and play!
-
Kids: Good with kids 12 and up.
-
Cats: Okay with confident, dog-savvy cats.
-
Dogs: Good with playful female dogs.
-
Energy: Medium-high; loves lots of playtime followed by cuddle time.
-
May playfully chew on people when excited.
-
Housebroken and leash trained; food motivated.
-
Basic obedience training recommended.
-
No more than 8 hours alone a day; will need a potty and play break.

Get to know Clifford!
Clifford is as intelligent and active as he is gorgeous! This giant chocolate boy was found roaming a park with other pups and eventually someone realized he had no human with him. He was picked up and when no one came forward to claim him, he came to us Buddy Dog to find his furever home! There's no mistaking the shepherd in this boy; he walks, talks, and thinks just like one. He needs a family who can keep up with him. He's a fast thinker and is easily stressed if not properly entertained. While he has not yet learned his manners, he is a friendly boy who greets everyone by jumping up to sniff their face, and he is big enough to reach! He overwhelms most dogs as he likes to play right away and doesn't understand that not all dogs want to play with him. He would need a very tolerant, playful, and sturdy doggy roommate, if any, until he learns boundaries.
Clifford is a 2-year old neutered male German shepherd dog mix and weighs 74 pounds, but is currently underweight.
Key Notes:
-
Experience with dogs needed; experience with active and intelligent breeds recommended.
-
No apartment style homes, small homes, or city living. A large fenced-in yard is ideal.
-
Kids: Needs an adult-only home.
-
Cats: Should not live with cats.
-
Dogs: Extremely playful with dogs; has not learned boundaries yet and would be best as only pet.
-
Energy: High; needs lots of mental and physical stimulation daily.
-
Almost housebroken.
-
Very strong on leash; still strong but better with a no-pull harness.
-
Jumps up and playfully chews on people.
-
Food motivated; knows "sit" and "paw".
-
Basic obedience training required.
-
Would thrive with more advanced training.
-
No more than 6 hours alone a day; will need a potty and play break.
