Why a Diamond?
Fun loving, goofy, and optimistic is the kind of dog Bailey is at her core, but she has baggage she needs known and accommodated first. When she feels safe, she plays without a care in the world and loves snuggle up and get love from her humans! The severe trauma in her past has made her wary of strangers and sensitive to touch which is why she is a Diamond in the Ruff.

Her Beginning
Bailey was found as an adolescent pup in Puerto Rico with a tension cable from an electric pole embedded in her neck, to the point where you could see her trachea; the vets said it was the worse case they had ever seen. While she was meant to be euthanized, a dog rescuer stepped in and took on the expenses for her veterinary care so that Bailey could have a second chance at live. She spent three months in veterinary care recovering before she was finally adopted! She was happily in a home for about a year and a half, but her adopter suddenly became unable to keep her. This is where our rescue partner stepped in and took Bailey into their care. Once she was ready, she came to Massachusetts to find her furever home!
Get to Know the Diamond
Love and laughs await Bailey's furever family, and she awaits an experienced furever family who can help her feel safe after her traumatic past. She is housebroken, enjoys fun walks (although her leash manners could use some brushing up), and enjoys lots of playtime! While she loves the Massachusetts weather, especially the snow days, the big move has exasperated her old insecurities. She still shows her sweet, fun, and affectionate side to the people who've taken the time to get to know her.
She is looking for an adult-only home as an only pet, and ideally in a quiet neighborhood with few other animals around. She is not a candidate for apartment or multi-family style homes or city living. Her new family will need to be very dog-experienced, ideally with fearful dogs, and committed to helping her feel safe and with them. When she opens up, she loves to give big hugs, run and play, and chew on her toys. She is also a "talker" and will bark both when she's playing, which can be very silly and entertaining, and also when she's upset and trying to communicate her feelings. She loves her food as well, so much so that she is afraid others may take it from her and needs space while eating. Behavioral training to help her new family build trust and open healthy communication would be a great way to start her new life.

No more than 8 hours alone a day; longer would require a potty and exercise break in the middle.
How to Adopt
We ask all prospective adopters to fill out an online application, which can be found here. If the animal becomes available and your application has been approved to move onto the next step, a staff member will schedule a remote interview prior to scheduling a meet-and-greet with the eligible animals.
