Finding loving homes for our overlooked dogs and cats
Meet Nacho & Candy
About Nacho & Candy
There are many flavors to Nacho and Candy. Before they warm up, you'll see the spicy side of Nacho and the sour side of Candy. This cute little duo is from Alabama! They lost their home when their elderly owner passed away. No one in the family was able to take these two in so they were given to a high-kill shelter in the area. Luckily, one of our rescue partners scooped these two up to get them into a safer situation while they wait for their furever homes!
These two have an "old married couple" relationship; sweet and loving to each other one minute and arguing about the silliest thing the next. Luckily they've lived their whole lives together and can "talk" through most conflicts with little to no mediation. After this big move they can definitely get on each other's nerves. Throughout the busy day in the kennel they enjoy their separate kennels across from each other, which is especially important during meals as Nacho doesn't think twice about eating Candy's food! Every night is a sleepover for them as Candy's joins Nacho is his kennel will ample beds and blankets. They also enjoy their outdoor time together; sniffing around their play pen or even running laps together at times!
It takes time to get into their "inner circle" but once you are they are incredibly loyal and loving. They will need a family who has experience with dogs, ideally dogs who are similarly reactive, aggressive, or nervous towards people. Their home will need to be adult only with no other animals, although with training they could welcome another furry family member. Ideally, it would just be them and theirperson, but a couple of adults equally committed to training and winning them over would be just as good. Nacho would benefit greatly from behavioral training for reactive and aggressive dogs and Candy for nervous dogs. It would give their new family a solid foundation to start on and set them up for success.
Nacho and Candy have a lot of layers to work through, both behaviorally and weight wise, and have already made great progress here at Buddy Dog. With an experienced, determined, and patient family this little duo will transform in so many ways. We're all eager to see their shell finally open for the right person.
